    Some say it started way back in the 1800′s with slave music and according to Metal A Head Bangers Journey alot of bands claim the Slave music was the stary of it all.

    good question – im guessing it was happening simultaneously, with rockabilly and skiffle bands turning into rock roll, by changing the rhythm.

    i’m not sure, but i think bill haley and the comets was the first rock and roll song to chart.
