Depends on the amp, string gauge, and pickups you have….

I’m confused as to why this is under RB, but metal normally has a lot of distortion (while still being able to note the pitch), so you definitely want that. Metal guitarist also like to tune their guitars lower. Mostly drop D tuning, but there are some guitarist who go down to C or Cb or maybe use a 7 string guitar that has a B string at the top. To be able to drop your guitar down lower, it’s usually recommended that you use thicker strings since you’ll get a lot more tone out of them and they’ll handle the drop in tuning better, but you may want to get a professional to mess with the springs of your guitar because it could warp your neck if the strings are really tight. But yeah, the main thing is distortion and thicker strings, but a lot of metal guitarist also use effect pedals. Usually if you look up your favorite guitarist on wikipedia, or google if you can’t find it on wikipedia, then you’ll be able to see what kind of equipment they use.

Go buy some cheap pedals or use the destortion on your amp.

Hello there,
You can get metal sound from about any guitar. It really does depend on what pedals, amp and speakers you are using. Also knowing what guitar you have and if it has the stock pickups would be useful to know. You need to add that all information for anyone to suggest how to change your gear rig.

Use a Guitar effect pedal called Distortion or any Rock sounding effects pedal depending on the brand of the guitar pedal itself.
