Cruel to be Kind by Nick Lowe is CLASSIC …brilliant, catchy tune and knock-out lyrics. I think it came out in the late 70s.
Forgot to say that it’s in the pop category.

If you’re talking traditional rock, grunge etc. then go for Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, RHCP, Nickelback, Creed, Staind, Five For Fighting, Theory Of a Deadman.
You can listen to indie as it’s a good mixture of rock, pop, punk and sometimes dance. Good bands are The Virgins, Vampire Weekend, Bombay Bicycle Club, Modest Mouse, Babyshambles, The Kills, Franz Ferdinand.
This is a good list- try all of these.
Treat me like your mother- The Dead Weather
Cut like a buffalo- The Dead Weather
Oh Yeah- Chickenfoot
Soap On A Rope- Chickenfoot
Brianstorm- Arctic Monkeys
Crying Lightning- Arctic Monkeys
Michael- Franz Ferdinand
Do You Want To- Franz Ferdinand
Readymade- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Glasgow Kiss- John Petrucci (Instrumental)
The Lemon Song- Led Zeppelin
Do What You Want- OK Go
Here It Goes Again- OK Go
She Hates Me- Puddle Of Mudd
Psycho- Puddle Of Mudd
The Zephyr Song- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Can’t Stop- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aeroplane- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Old Enough- The Raconteurs
Wax Simulacra- The Mars Volta
Goliath- The Mars Volta
Woman- Wolfmother
New Moon Rising- Wolfmother
Back Round- Wolfmotheres,
Rich Girls- The Virgins
Teen Lovers- The Virgins
Killamangiro- Babyshambles
You Talk- Babyshambles
Lol, its kinda tough to sum up, but there too many. Try all of these and then you’ll start discovering more.
