Why is it that some Christians, not all to be fair, think rock/pop is ALL trash and ALL country is ok?

bill asked:

For example they could bash Snow patrols Counting Cars, the singers beautiful tribute to his departed dog, and at the same time praise up Put Some Alcohol On It, some of the worst, most sinful songwriting ever!! I smell hypocrisy!!

i can’t relate to what you are talking about. once i turned my heart to God, i gave up secular music, country or otherwise. i can only assume most true Christians do the same. perhaps the people you are talking about are Christian in name only.

It is just a matter of personal preference I suppose.

I think there are, like you say, VERY FEW who are that rigid about it.

But, any time you observe unreasonable rigidity, it is because that person either can’t think for themselves, or can’t think at all.

That sort of absolute rigidity is meant to build oneself up at the expense of others.

Sounds like hypocrisy to me, they want to feel good about themselves by condemning certain people and their habits, and at the same time enjoy themselves and the world. I personally am not okay with either, and try to be consistent.
